How much would it cost to install a catalytic converter in a 96 civic?

i want to buy this honda but it needs a catalytic converter, and it has 214 miles... how much should i pay?

its automatic and is priced at 2000|||Use only a genuine Honda part, or have the original one re-welded if possible. Try junk yards, you might get lucky. The catalytic converter may have burned up due to a poorly tuned engine, or dirty sensors causing a too rich condition (or dirty IAC valve, or failed O2 sensor). In other words, try to find out WHY the converter failed, to prevent a future problem. Have car inspected at more than one place. A clever technician just MIGHT be able to spot weld it. The car will not run correctly without one. Good Luck!!|||not worth it the car is going to die in about 10,000 miles ride it out till inspection is up ether junk it or buy fake stickers|||I would say to buy a catalytic converter and install it your self. It's not that hard all you need is time to remove a few screws instead of wasting hundreds of dollars trying to replace 1 small piece of part.|||you can buy your own off an auto part store and take it to a weld shop which would probably be cheaper all I know is that your gonna pay at least $100-200 no matter where you go unless you have a cutter and welder to do it yourself but still the cat converter will be around $60-100
