Could the catalytic converter being broken cause the air bag light to go on?

In December I hit a block of ice and broke the catalytic converter in my Jetta. About 20 minutes after this happened the airbag light went on and has not gone off since. When we got the car checked out to see what was wrong with it we were sent to a muffler shop to replace the cat con and they had no explanation for the air bag light. Could it be related? My husband says no but it seems like to much of a coincidence that they happened at the same time.|||What happened is when you hit the cat you damaged the wiring for the sensor for the air bag. The light won't go out until you get the sensor fixed.|||The air bag system and the catalytic converter are totally unrelated - what might not be unrelated is the damage that might have been caused by hitting the block of ice.|||they got nothin to do with eachother.
