How much can you expect to get at a scrapyard for a Catalytic Converter?

I know the outside is tin, and the inside contains Platinum.


Will scrapyards take the cat as a whole, or do you have to extract the platinum pellets separately?


How much can you expect to get out of a catalytic converter at a scrapyard?|||Why not just call up some scrapyards and end any speculation and guessing? I mean, wouldn't that make the most sense?





The market has crashed for them, I wouldn't expect to get more than 10-20 for a normal car converter, a bit more for larger commercial trucks.

they buy cats for 20 to 40 dollars where i live,,,and call the cops if you have more than one or two at a time|||Im a little concerned that you might be stealing them?


usually you can give them the whole thing and it depends on the condition of it, but every place is different|||i replaced my cat with a high flow and was wondering the same thing, if you check craigslist there will be people who are willing to buy stock cats, i remember one guy offering $40 for one.|||depending on the cat some as i as 60 , it depends, and bring your id, they will ask for it
