Does an Oxygen Sensor need to be replaced when a Catalytic Converter is replaced?

I just had a recall on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4WD. The dealership replaced my catalytic converter and now my check engine light is on. Should they have replaced the O2 Sensor also?|||Typically, no. Unless the recall specifies to check for further damage resulting from the recalled part.|||Just take it back and tell them the light was not staying on until after they worked on it. Just because the check engine light is on does not mean you have an o2 sensor problem, I see alot of cars with the check engine light on because the gas cap is loose. While it is not a bad idea to change the sensor, the dealer was tasked with only changing the converter, which should not have made the engine light come on, so maybe as suggested before, it is unplugged.|||Don't fuss don't guess just take it back to the dealer and politely ask"what the f--- is going on" with my car. They'll take care of it for you.

They could have forgotten to plug it back in.

Stay away if it's hot,and you must take a peek.|||No,|||hello, you should replace it when you have a tune up also, but yes the o2 sensor needs to be replace too, all the contaminates from the bad cat will have clogged up the vents in the o2 sensor
