How much would it be to replace the catalytic converter in my 1985 Cadillac Seville?

The catalytic converter is starting to fail and the noise its making is something fierce. I'm wondering how much it would cost to repair/replace it. The budget would be something like 300-400 dollars. I didn't think it would be that much since its such an old car, but I'm curious nonetheless. Also I'm hoping it won't be much since I'm a poor broke college student and can't afford much.|||You should start off by having a couple of local shops give you an estimate. You can't replace

the cat only, if the rest of the exhaust is in need.
